Bank of Perry County Honored By TNECD For 100+ Years Business History

Not many Tennessee businesses can claim a 100+ year continuous history, surviving through wartimes, the Great Depression, recessions, and other periods of economic distress.
One of those centennial companies exists right here. The Bank of Perry County, established in 1905, is still thriving today.
To celebrate that accomplishment, Tennessee Economic & Community Development (TNECD) Assistant Commissioner Jamie Stitt visited last Wednesday morning, January 31, to present an award to bank President Bill Bates.
According to a September 2015 article in The Perry County Quarterly, the publication of the Perry County Historical Society, the bank was established in 1905 by John R. Butler from Kentucky. He served as cashier, and Clem Edwards was the banks first president.
