After-School Program Up & Running for 1st-4th Grade Kids

First Baptist Church-Linden is now enrolling for their free-of-charge after-school enrichment program for first through fourth graders that will take place on Wednesdays.

Students will explore, grow social and life skills, read, experiment, create, and much more.

Each session will begin with snacks, socializing, and Bible study. Students will have gross motor games and playtime then go to rotations for homework/academic help and interest group time.

In the Education Exploration room, the program will utilize the talents of current and retired educators to help each individual student, based on what they are learning in school that week, their areas of strengths and weaknesses, and their interests.

Perry County Community Collaborative will partner with the after-school program to provide educational games, materials, and books to ensure wrap-around support for each student attending.

In the Collab Lab, the interest classes will focus on the children’s questions and ideas, building on the values and cultures of those who attend. Learners will take their interests and questions and then research, create science experiments,

art projects, and more.

Church members and community members from the Perry County Community Collaborative will partner so that those who attend the after-school program have long-term, sustainable academic, social, and spiritual outcomes.

The program will run from the end of school until 5:25 pm. Students may opt to stay for a meal and church service until 7:00 p.m.

Those interested in the after-school program can contact firstbaptistafterschool@gmail.com, call 931-576-5100, or stop by the church office.

The Perry County Community Collaborative meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.at Azbill Community Center in Linden.

All community members are welcome to be a voice at the table to express educational needs for the community, to become a business partner, or to volunteer with the collaborative to help learners in Perry County achieve academic success.
