Wayne County Fugitive In Trouble Here After Resisting Arrest Efforts
A Wayne County fugitive—and former Perry County resident with a long criminal history here—was taken into custody at a Linden residence on Wednesday, August 2,2023, after resisting, running, and finally surrendering himself to authorities.
Authorities received a tip that David Doyle, 50, was hiding out in a house on Polk Street, behind Linden City Hall.
Chief Deputy Bart Rosson and a team of deputies surrounded the house while Deputy Alan Daniel entered and found Doyle hiding in the attic, covered in insulation. According to the arrest report, Doyle used pepper spray on Chief Deputy Rosson and Deputy Jason Morrow and tried to set the attic on fire with a butane torch.
Doyle then, authorities said, kicked through the attic floor and fell through the ceiling after officers tried to subdue him using tasers.
Investigator Stockstill engaged with Doyle in the living room where the fugitive sprayed the officer and struck him in the right eye with the handle of a large hunting knife.
