Judge Gave Medlin Time Served, Year of Probation

A Decatur County man convicted March 2 of voluntary manslaughter in the 2018 shooting death of Jerrel Barber of Perry County did not leave the courtroom in handcuffs last Tuesday following sentencing.

Kevin Medlin—who was charged going into last month’s trial with first degree murder—was found guilty of the lesser charge, a Class C felony which carries a sentence of three to fifteen years.
