PC Sheriff’s Office & Jail: $324,767 in Improvement Grants
Over the recent past, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Jail has been awarded a total of $324,767 in grant money to help with improvements and supplies for the facility.
Tennessee Finance and Administration awarded $58,993 to the department in 2021 to implement video arraignment and court proceedings.
Perry County Jail bought equipment needed to be able to have court within the facility. This grant allows the jail to keep the inmates at the facility and have court via video.
During COVID, court proceedings were sometimes put on hold due to the spread of the disease. The grant made it possible for the defendants to stay within the facility and keep them from contracting the virus and spreading throughout the population and still have their court as scheduled.
