Local Tourism Spending Up 27.89% in 2021
Tourist spending last year in Perry County jumped 27.89% from the previous year, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, according to data released by the state, based on a report by U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics.
In 2021, direct tourism spending in Perry County totaled $5.8 million, up from $4.6 million in 2020 and $5.2 million in 2019.
Local total business sales were $10.1 million last year, compared to $8.5 million in 2020 and $9.7 million in 2019.
And in direct economic impact, tourism-related employment in Perry County was 54, with labor income at $900,000.
The report found that tourism directly generated $200,000 in states taxes and $200,000 in local taxes last year.
