Local Veterans Group Leader Died in Mowing Accident

A mowing accident claimed the life of a Perry County resident on Thursday afternoon, April 21.

Michael Caldwell died at the scene after the mower he was operating tumbled down a steep embankment at his home in the southern end of the county.

Caldwell was active in local veterans groups, serving as chairman of the Perry County Veterans Association and Commander of American Legion Post 176.

According to a report from Deputy Shaun Evans, he and Sergeant Cobb responded at 4:56 p.m. to an emergency call at Caldwell’s Lego School Road address.
