Glenda Leegan is a candidate for Perry County Clerk in the August 2010 election. Following is her statement to voters: “At this time, I, Glenda Leegan, have come to announce my candidacy for the position of Perry County Clerk. “I reside in Lobelville, where I have lived for the past 36 years. I have one son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Katie, and one grandson. Trinton. “I am presently employed in the Perry County Clerk’s office as Deputy County Clerk. This busy office issues motor vehicle registrations, title applications, duplicate titles, vehicle renewals, business licenses, notary applications, notary renewals, hunting and fishing licenses, boat registrations, boat renewals, collects sales tax, issues marriage licenses, and occasionally performs marriage ceremonies, as well as many other duties. “I am fully familiar with all legal aspects of the office, and an responsible for all the duties of the office in the absence of the present County Clerk, Ms. Jane Lewis. “It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of Perry County for the past 14 years as Deputy Clerk. During that time I have gained the experience to run the office efficiently and have had the opportunity to come to know many of you. As a candidate for County Clerk, I am updated in all the guidelines mandated by the State of Tennessee to run the office efficiently. “I am requesting that you cast your vote of confidence for me in the August 5, 2010 election, to promote me to County Clerk. If elected, I promise a smooth transition and the same prompt, friendly service.”
