Buffalo River Review

By ASHLEE JOHNSON

The Buffalo River Artisan Cooperative is on its way to becoming a reality. At the meeting on February 4, a group of interested people met for the second time, with new faces, and discussed possible names for the cooperative.
The group also discussed by-laws and a fee structure for the members of the cooperative. This evolving group of artisans will bring all different kinds of quality work to the cooperative, such as: woodcrafts (including chairs, tables, utensils, and trinkets), weaving, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, painting, calligraphy, sketching, wind chimes, books by local writers, and handmade jewelry.
The cooperative is still in the early stages of becoming a reality, but with a grand opening date of March 20 as cooperative’s goal, they are working fast and furious to get things ready to blow everyone away at the Blooming Arts Festival.
The Gallery/Market will be located at the current Art Studio on Main Street Linden. Discussions were held at the last meeting regarding the development of the facility.
A Steering Committee meeting will be held tomorrow, February 11, with another general meeting for the cooperative on February 18, 2:00 p.m., at the Commodore Hotel.
If you are interested but have not yet been able to attend a meeting, then we extend an invitation to you. The more artisans who are involved, the better this potential business will be.
